Waltham - Mrs. Eleanor A (McGovern) Hession, of Waltham, died on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 in Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was 81.
Eleanor was born on May 9, 1940 in Newton a daughter of the late Thomas and Frances (Murphy) McGovern. A graduate of Waltham High School she later married Paul J. Hession Sr. on October 23, 1960 in Saint Charles Borromeo Church. At age 70 she proudly earned her Associate's degree online.
Eleanor worked as an administrative assistant for Middlesex County Hospital and later for Collegiate Entrepreneurs in Braintree before retiring.
An accomplished artist, Eleanor enjoyed painting and drawing and studied under various artists. She especially enjoyed her trips to Cape Cod and study with Lois Griffel at the "Cape School of Art."
In addition to her husband, Paul, she leaves her children, Paul J. Hession Jr. and his wife Lesley of Westford, Deirdre M. Hession of Marlborough and Thomas J. Hession and his wife Diane of Natick; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Childers and her husband Jim of Truro; Eleanor was predeceased by her siblings Thomas J. McGovern, Jr. and Sheila Neilson. She also leaves many nieces & nephews; and her much loved Dandie Dinmont Terrier 'Shammy' whom she adored as much as her family.
Funeral services will be private.
