Waltham – Mrs. Eleanor M. (Duggan) Hutchinson, of Waltham and Falmouth, died Sunday, September 6, 2015, in her daughter's home in Medway following a period of declining health. She was 90.
Eleanor was born in Waltham on October 28, 1924, a daughter of the late Cornelius and Elizabeth (Donoghue) Duggan, and was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Waltham. A lifelong Waltham resident, she and her family also spent many happy summers at their home in Falmouth.
Until her retirement Eleanor worked as a telephone operator at Waltham City Hall. Because her operation was located just inside the front door Eleanor became not only the voice of city hall but a friendly face and a wave to all who entered and left the building. Before that Eleanor worked for the New England Telephone Company.
Eleanor enjoyed creating wonderful memories with her family and recalling them later on in life. She loved to travel, especially to Ireland, and of course to her beloved Falmouth. She enjoyed life's simple pleasures . . . watching golf on television, reading, keeping up with the news and most especially being with her grandchildren.
The wife of the late Joseph A. Hutchinson, she leaves her children, Eleanor M. Conrad and her husband, Scott, of Medway and Daniel J. Hutchinson and his wife, Katherine, of W. Barnstable; her grandchildren, Monica Cunningham and her husband, Sean, of Clinton, Gregory Conrad of Medway and Amy Hutchinson of W. Barnstable and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was the sister of the late Cornelius Duggan, Joseph Duggan, Daniel Duggan, John Duggan, Mortimer Duggan, Patricia Duggan and Elizabeth Daley.
Family and friends will honor and remember Eleanor's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, September 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
