Windham, NH - Mrs. Eleanor T.(Marlinski) McCarthy of Windham, New Hampshire, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, November 30, 2006 in the Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare Center in Nashua, New Hampshire. She was 78. Eleanor was born and raised in Waltham and had been a city resident before moving to New Hampshire in 1981. She worked as a sales clerk for Ames Department Store in New Hampshire. Prior to that, she had worked in the cafeteria at the former School Street Elementary School in Waltham and had been a former sales clerk at Grover Cronin's Department Store in Waltham where she received the 1967 Grover Cronin's Mother of the Year Award. Eleanor was a graduate of Waltham High School, Class of 1946, and was a former member of Saint Mary's Church in Watham. She was currently a parishioner of Saint Mark's Church in Londonderry, New Hampshire. She was the wife of the late Edward T. McCarthy and is survived by her children, Edward T. McCarthy, Jr. and his wife, Maureen, of Waltham, Elaine M. Kilpatrick and her husband, Russell, of Londonderry, New Hampshire, John J. McCarthy and his wife, Mildred, of Scituate, Marilyn Sarno and her husband, Guy, of North Reading, Jacquelyn Vanaria and her husband, Lawrence, of Westwood, Thomas J. McCarthy and his wife, Nancy, of Wayland, Michael McCarthy and his wife, Donna, of Newton, Colleen A. Giardina and her husband, James, of Windham, New Hampshire, and Matthew D. McCarthy of Derry, New Hampshire; her sisters, Wanda Eaton of Yarmouth and Eunice Campbell of Newburyport; twenty-three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was the daughter of the late Roman and Regina Marlinski and the sister of the late Isabelle Fidelio. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Tuesday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury.
