Waltham - Mrs. Eleanore F. Tomusko, of Waltham, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham. She was 97.
Eleanore was born in Portland, Maine on June 9, 1919, a daughter of the late Francis and Sarah (Coyne) Rowe. She graduated from Portland High School in 1937 and worked as a manager at Woolworth's for over 13 years. On September 29, 1951 she married William R. Tomusko in Saint John's Church in South Portland, Maine. Shortly after marriage the couple made Waltham their home and they've lived here ever since.
Eleanore was a wonderful wife and mother and her quick wit will be missed by all who knew her. Bill and Eleanore spent sixty-five happy years together . . . Friday's meant date night at The Chateau and they also loved to travel together, vacationing throughout Canada and Europe. She was a devout Catholic and in years past taught CCD and was also a troop leader with the Girl Scouts.
In addition to her husband, Bill, she leaves her children, Robert L. Tomusko of Boston and Joan M. Schoch and her husband, John, of Sharon; her grandchildren, Chandler and Gavin Schoch; her great grandchild, Hunter Schoch; her brother, Francis F. Rowe of South Portland, Maine and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanore was the sister of the late Thomas Rowe and Kathleen Dowd.
Family and friends will honor and remember Eleanore's life by gathering for calling hours on Tuesday April 18th, from 5 to 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
