Waltham – Mrs. Elena (Gigante) Gullotti, of Waltham, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Waltham. She was 78. Elena was born in Watertown on July 9, 1931, a daughter of the late Dominico and Mary (Appignani) Gigante, and had been a resident there before moving to Waltham in 1951. She graduated from Watertown High School, class of 1949. She retired from Ginn and Company Educational Textbook Company in 1989 after having worked there for twenty years. Elena was the treasurer of the Single Squares Round and Square Dance Club. She also bowled with the Mt. Trinity Bowling League and had been a member of the Waltham Garden Club. She leaves her former husband, Albert Gullotti of Hudson, New Hampshire; her children, Carol A. Dunbar of Waltham and David A. Gullotti of Groton; her grandchildren, Michael Dunbar and his wife, Edna, of Acton and Julie Creagh and her husband, John, of Bedford; her great-grandchildren, Danielle and Ryan Creagh and Michael and Joseph Dunbar; her sisters, Elda Medeiros and Lydia Cappiello, both of Billerica and many nieces and nephews. Elena was also the mother of the late Alan P. Gullotti. Family and friends will honor and remember Elena's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
