Waltham – Mrs. Elinor F. (Buckley) Gordon, of Waltham, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Waltham Crossings. She was 91.
Elinor was born in Waltham on January 2, 1924, a daughter of the late Irwin F. Buckley and Eva M. (Leger) (Buckley) Parks, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Waltham High School.
Until her retirement she worked as an administrative assistant for Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard and before that held the same position at the Raytheon Company in Waltham.
After retirement Elinor busied herself by volunteering for several city agencies in Waltham. She was a longtime volunteer in Mayor William Stanley's office and also volunteered at various times to fill positions with the police and fire departments and at the senior center.
The wife of the late Merton F. Gordon she leaves her sister, Yvonne M. Hanley of Waltham; her nieces and nephews, William Hanley and his wife, Lisa, Robert Hanley and his wife, Linda and Linda Hanley Powell and her husband, Patrick, all of Waltham; seven grandnieces and grandnephews and seven great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
She was also a sister of the late Paul W. and Irwin "Joe" Buckley and sister-in-law of the late William A. Hanley.
Family and friends will honor and remember Elinor's life by gathering for her funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 7th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham.
