Waltham – Mrs. Elizabeth M. (Walsh) (Hendrickson) Driscoll, of Waltham, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at her home. She was 77.
Elizabeth was born in Brighton on November 12, 1934, a daughter of the late Martin L. and Margaret H. (Thompson) Walsh, and had been a lifelong resident of Waltham. After graduating from Saint Mary's High School in Waltham she earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Emmanuel College in Boston in 1956.
That same year she enlisted in the United States Air Force serving as a lieutenant until her discharge in 1959. Elizabeth was a meteorologist with Air Force units across the county having been certified in the field at the University of Washington in Seattle. After leaving the service she gained certification as a teacher and taught elementary education in Bourne, Waltham and at Saint Jude School in Waltham. She received her master's degree in education from Suffolk University in Boston. Elizabeth also had a lifelong interest in music and the arts and served on the board of directors of the Reagle Players in Waltham.
Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Driscoll and Clarence D. 'Hank' Hendrickson, and leaves her sons, William L. Hendrickson-Driscoll of Seattle, Washington and Daniel E. Driscoll and his wife, Yuko, of Cincinnati, Ohio; her brothers and sister, William Walsh of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, James Walsh of Florida, Martin Walsh of West Newton and Mary Oman of Fresno, California and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Elizabeth's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, March 27th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
