Elizabeth A. MacDonald

Waltham – Ms. Elizabeth A. ‘Betsy’ MacDonald died Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Meadow Green Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 83. 

Betsy was born on February 1, 1941, in Boston a daughter of the late Norman J. and Madeline M. (Burke) MacDonald. Raised in Waltham she graduated from Waltham High School and enjoyed vacationing in Ogunquit, Maine. 

She enjoyed a long career in banking in the IT Department at Bank of Boston for over 40 years. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her longtime partner, Virginia Mackey (2011), her sister, Jane T. MacDonald; her uncle, Monsignor Joseph Burke and aunt, Isabel Burke with whom she remained very close. 

She leaves her brother, Norman J. MacDonald (Sandra) and her sister, Ellen M. MacDonald, all of Waltham; also survived by nieces & nephews. 

Family and friends will honor and remember Betsy’s life by gathering for a morning wake beginning at 9 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20) Waltham on Tuesday, December 10th before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
