Marlborough – Mrs. Elizabeth M. (Brown) Riley, of Marlborough, formerly of Waltham, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Bolton Manor Nursing Home. She was 80.
Elizabeth was born in Somerville on May 20, 1930, a daughter of the late Meddie and Elizabeth (Fielding) Brown, and had lived in Waltham for most of her life before moving to Marlborough in 1997.
She spent her career as an administrative assistant, first in the president’s office at Bentley College in Waltham and then at the United Methodist Church. She then worked for the Jewish Community Center in Newton until her retirement in 1994.
Elizabeth’s joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren with whom she spent many happy summers at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. She also spent lots of time reading and working puzzles.
She was the wife of the late Wallace E. Riley who died in August of 1993 and she leaves her children, John W. Riley and his wife, Aida, of Marlborough and Virginia Allison and her husband, Russell, of Natick and her grandchildren, Marie Riley and Christine Ruiz, both of Marlborough.
Elizabeth was a sister of the late Francis Brown, Philip Brown and Sr. Marie Brown.
Family and friends will honor and remember Elizabeth’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
