Waltham – Miss Elizabeth W. 'Listy' Smith, of Waltham, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in the Leland Home. She was 92.

Listy was born in Watham on July 21, 1919, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Eva M. (Slauenwhite) Smith, and was a 1937 graduate of Waltham High School. In 1941 she earned her bachelors degree in home economics from Simmons College in Boston. She worked at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York and the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York before becoming the Director of Food Services for twenty-five years at Lasell College in Newton.

She was a lifelong member of the First Parish Church in Waltham and the Leland Home Corporation in Waltham. She also belonged to the Sandwich (NH) Historical Society, the Friends of the Library in Sandwich, NH and the Friends of the Waltham Public Library.

Listy was the sister of the late Charles F. Smith, Converse B. Smith, and Elmer C. Smith and is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, great-great-grandnieces and several cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Listy's life by gathering for a Memorial Service in the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 50 Church Street, Waltham, on Sunday, October 16th at 4 pm.
