Elsie Doherty

Cambridge – Mrs. Elsie (Fucci) Doherty, of Cambridge, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, in the Cambridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 92.

Elsie was born in Waltham on April 10, 1919, a daughter of the late Augustine and Maria (Mastrantuono) Fucci. She was raised in Waltham and had lived in Boston, Newton and in Somerville before moving to Cambridge. She was a former member of the Newton Senior Citizens at the Eliot School. Until her retirement in 1984 she worked as a switch assembler at the Ark-Les Company for forty-seven years.

She was the wife of the late Daniel C. Doherty and a sister of the late Michael Fucci, Mary Palombo, Domenic Fucci, Sue Iannuzzo, Amerigo Fucci and Nicholas Fucci.

Elsie is survived by her sister, Lena Giordano of Peekskill, New York; her sister-in-law, Daisy Fucci of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Elsie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, February 16th, from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
