Weston – Ms. Emma M. Surette, of Weston and Shrewsbury, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. She was 89.
Emma was born in Dieppe, New Brunswick, on August 24, 1922, a daughter of the late Silfred and Amanda (Gauvin) Surette. She came to the United States as a young child settling in Fitchburg before moving to Waltham where she graduated from Saint Mary's High School. She moved to Weston in 1968 and to Shrewsbury to live with her nephew Stanley and his wife, Mary, in 2010. She was an active member of Saint Julia's Parish in Weston and enjoyed gardening.
Emma worked as a comptroller for over 50 years at Symmes, Maini & McKee Associates in Cambridge. A dedicated employee, she loved her work and retired at the age of 87.
She was the sister of the late Raymond L., Joseph A., Gerald E., Jeannette M. and Rita M. Surette.
She is survived by her brother, Leo J. Surette and his wife, Joanne, of Medfield and many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews including Dr. Stanley P. Surette and his wife, Mary, of Shrewsbury, with whom she lived.
Family and friends will honor and remember Emma's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, July 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
