Hopedale Mrs. Erna S. (Hovind-Larssen) Mollung, of Hopedale, formerly of Newton, died Friday, July 21, 2005 at Medway Country Manor, Medway. She was 83. Born in Oslo, Norway, a daughter of the late Ludwig Larssen and Petra Hovind, she emigrated to the United States in 1948. Before moving to Hopedale in 1987, Erna and her family lived for many years in Newton. An accomplished concert pianist, Erna performed her debut concert in front of the King of Norway. She taught piano for many years at her home and also at the All Newton Music School. Erna was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church of Waltham where she also served as organist. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway in Newton, the Norwegian 1814 Club and had been a benefactor of the Scandinavian Living Center in Newton. Erna leaves her husband, Stian Mollung; two sons, Tom S. Mollung and his wife, Rosemary, of Medway and Thor A. Mollung and his wife, Karen, of Medford; four grandchildren, Leanne, Danielle, Allyson and Kristoffer Mollung; one brother, Reidar Hovind of Oslo, Norway and one sister, Mona Malon of Collingwood, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Lutheran Church of Waltham, corner of Weston and Eddy Streets, Waltham. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery.
