Essie Mae Williams

Mrs. Essie Mae Williams, of Lynn, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Phillips Manor Nursing Home in Lynn. She was 85 years old.

Essie was born on December 11, 1931 in Weldon, North Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Lampotee and Essie Jane (Clark) Ivery.

After graduating from high school Essie served in the Women's Army Corps for several years where she demonstrated her kind and gentle nature as she cared for the wounded. Upon returning to civilian life she joined her siblings, Charles, Linwood and Lena Ivery; all of whom had settled in Mt. Vernon, New York. Essie was married to Frank Williams who also because a servant to Jehovah until the end of his life.

With a true passion for gardening and a green thumb, Essie worked to keep a neat and tidy yard and home ornamented with various flowers and plants.

A woman of faith, Essie's greatest love was for our God and creator, Jehovah. She became acquainted with Jehovah's Witnesses in the early 70's and felt very drawn to the Bible truths she was learning. John 6:44. At the time, however, there were many circumstances that took her time and attention and she felt she could not do justice to what she was learning. Isaiah 41:9. She vowed to return to her studies as soon as she was able and she did so several years later. With great joy she took hold of Bible truths and was baptized in the late 1970's as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She remained active and zealous until progressive dementia took hold, but she remembered Jehovah's name, that he is the almighty god and to him we must pray, until she passed away. Revelation 21:3, 4.

Essie is survived by her daughters, Katrina Mae Williams and Mona Lisa Giuliano; her grandson, Andrew A. Giuliano; her nieces and nephews, Trina Gh'rael, Jean Dabney, Deanna Ivery and Peter Webb; her great nieces and nephews, Elajaa Ivery, Ahmir Gh'rael, Kharon Gh'rael and Peter Taylor and a host of other relatives.

As her daughters we are grateful to Jehovah for allowing us to get to know and serve him with our mother.
