Esther Gorgone

Dracut - Mrs. Esther (DeGiorgio) Gorgone, of Dracut, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, in Lowell General Hospital.

Esther was born in Florence, Italy, a daughter of the late Leonardo and Carmela (Vitale) DeGiorgio. She was raised in Florence and came to the United States through Ellis Island at the age of 18 and moved to Waltham in 1945.

She was the wife of the late John T. Gorgone and the sister of the late Edward DeGiorgio.

Esther is survived by her children, John J. Gorgone and his wife, Robin, of Dracut and Dolores Phillips and her husband, James, of Santa Cruz, California; her grandchildren, Tanya Gorgone, Kristina Gorgone, Brandon Gorgone, James Phillips, Meaghan McCartin, and Matthew McCartin and her great grandchildren, Cassidy Phillips, Myles LaRose, and Owen Smith.

Family and friends will honor and remember Esther's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, May 30th, from 4-8 pm and again at 10 am on Thursday morning when her funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
