West Newton— Ethel M. (Terry) Frattaroli, of West Newton, died Monday, November, 28, 2022 in her home. She was 103.
Ethel was born in East Boston on February 24, 1919, a daughter of the late William and Theresa (Costello) Terry. Raised in East Boston, she lived in Winthrop for a time before moving to West Newton in 1953 where she had been a resident ever since. Ethel had worked as a server for Nims Catering in Waltham and at Little, Brown and Co. Publishing before she retired at age 79.
She loved her family and always looked forward to Sunday dinners spent with them. She also enjoyed classic movies, reading mystery novels, and stitching handmade quilts. Ethel also became known to the community for her impressive collection of tea pots. Over her 103 years she gathered several thousand tea pots; Ethel would travel all over the Boston metro area to find the perfect pot to add to the collection. Each weekend was occupied and well planned in efforts to seek out yard sales for a new treasure of a tea pot.
Ethel was predeceased by her siblings, the late Albert Terry, William Terry, and Theresa “Rose” Terry.
She leaves her children, Marilyn Andrews of Framingham, Henry Frattaroli (Karina) of Duxbury, Joseph Frattaroli (Kathy Kane) of Long Beach, California, Paul Frattaroli of West Newton, Patricia Frattaroli (Kurt Rayner) of Framingham, Deborah Frattaroli of Auburndale, and Judy Bortolotti (Alfredo) of Framingham; her grandchildren, Karen Lerner, Joanne Zinger, Christopher Frattaroli, Gabriella Bortolotti, Jimmy Bortolotti and Maria Luchero; and her great-grandchildren, Maya, Vivian, Michael, and Matthew.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ethel’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, December 7th from 4 to 8 p.m. Her funeral service and burial will be private.
