Ethel R. (Miller) Heffler of Natick, formerly of Medfield, died Thursday, October 17, 2013, in the Beaumont Rehabilitation Center in Natick. She was 100. Mrs. Heffler was born in Cambridge on January 24, 1913, a daughter of the late Frederick and Susan (Sawtell) Miller.
Ethel lived in Somerville until her marriage to Frederick R. Heffler in 1939, when she and her husband moved to Arlington. After Frederick's death, Ethel worked at the Mitre Corporation in Beford. She retired in 1975.
In 1976, she moved to Orleans where she enjoyed her yard and garden, playing cards, the ocean, and fine seafood.
But most of all, Ethel loved being with her family, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Kevin A. Heffler, and the sister of the late George Miller and Mildred Kelleher.
Ethel is survived by her daughter-in-law, Catherine Heffler of Woburn; her grandchildren, Steven F. Heffler and his wife, Elizabeth, of Natick, Michael J. Heffler and his wife, Leilani of Texas, and Kevin A. Heffler, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Burlington; her great grandchildren, Alison, Kailee, Jenna, Ryan, Evin, Connor, Makena, and Makenzie Heffler; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late George Miller and Mildred Kelleher.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ethel's life by gathering at 10 am on Tuesday, October 22nd, in Saint Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery in Boston.
