Eugene E. Hebert

Waltham – Mr. Eugene E. 'Gene' Hebert, of Waltham, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 86.

Gene was born in Tacoma, Washington on April 18, 1928, a son of the late Alfred and Sophia (Couture) Hebert, and was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Tacoma. After that he served with the United States Army as World War II was winding down and later with the Army National Guard.

After the service Gene moved to the other side of the state to attend Spokane Trade School where he earned a degree in electronics.

On April 2, 1949 Gene married the love of his life, Rosy A. Niemann, in Hope Lutheran Church in Tacoma. The pair soon moved to Spokane where they made their home until moving to Waltham four years ago. Until his retirement Gene worked as a service manager for thirty-three years for the Dictaphone Corporation in Spokane. Throughout his life he loved music and was accomplished on the harmonica, a talent he nourished since his youth.

In addition to his wife of sixty-five years, Rosy, Gene leaves his daughter, Sandra M. Hebert and her husband, Whitman Brown, of Waltham and several nieces and nephews.

Gene was also a brother of the late Roger and Alfred Hebert and Dorothy Howarth.

Family and friends will honor and remember Eugene's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, July 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning in First Lutheran Church, 6 Eddy Street, Waltham where his Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will be on Friday at 11 a.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
