Waltham – Mr. Eugene R. ‘Gene’ Rogers, of Waltham, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Weston. He was 83. Born in Worcester, a son of the late Camille and M. Irene (Young) Rogers, Gene had lived in Waltham since 1950. Until his retirement in 1991 he worked for forty-two years as an electrical engineer for the Raytheon Company. He was a graduate of North High School in Worcester, Wentworth Institute in Boston and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In 1956 he earned a masters degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. During World War II, Gene served as a staff sergeant with the United States Army Air Corps in the South Pacific and he had been a longtime member of First Congregational Church in Waltham. Gene leaves his wife of 59 years, Shirley J. (Morse) Rogers; three children, Susan P. Gibson and her husband, Philip, of Maynard, Judith A. Hall and her husband, Wayne, of Sudbury and Jeffrey R. Rogers and his wife, Jean, of Northboro; six grandchildren, Ashley, Philip and Christopher Gibson and Julie, Steven and Michael Rogers; two cousins, Emily and Nellie Rogers of Boylston and several nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Stanley Rogers and Marjorie Casmir. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. Visiting hours are Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
