Evelyn Burns

Waltham – Mrs. Evelyn (Hubbs) Burns, of Waltham, died Monday, November 29, 2010 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 93.

Evelyn was born on January 27, 1917 in Corryton, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Gillian and Magnolia (Popejoy) Hubbs. She moved to Brighton in the mid 1930’s and settled in Waltham in 1952. Evelyn worked as a dietician at Brighton Marine Hospital for many years and after retiring enjoyed traveling with her family.

The wife of the late Walter B. Burns she leaves her children, Judith Burns Gray of Lunenburg and Douglas R. Burns and his wife, Rayna, of Waltham; her grandchildren Ariana Burns, Conor Burns, Shannan Gray and Ian Gray.

Family and friends will honor and remember Evelyn’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Route 20), Waltham on Wednesday, December 1st, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday when her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
