Mrs. Evelyn E. (Avery) (Cormier) Fallon, of Billerica and formerly of Waltham died peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in The Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehab Center. She was 91.
Evelyn was born in Belmont on January 29, 1926, the daughter of the late Abraham and Rachel (Wilkinson) Avery. Until her retirement she had worked in food services at the GTE/Sylvania Company in Waltham. In 2011 she moved to Billerica to be closer to her family and became a staple at the Billerica Senior Center. She was a wonderful wife, mother and nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a talented and sought after baker and her specialties included her whoopee pies, brownies and banana split cake.
She was the wife of the late Philip Cormier who died in 1962 and Bernard M. 'Hap' Fallon who died in 1999. She is survived by her devoted and loving children, Donald Cormier and his wife, Carol, of Indian Land, South Carolina, Paul Cormier and his wife, Kathy, of Pepperell, Neal Cormier and his wife, Lisa, of Merrimac, and Charlene Carson and her husband, Chris, of Billerica; her step-children, Thomas Fallon of Webster, John Fallon of Raleigh, North Carolina and Catherine Kalenkowitz and her husband, Bill, of South Hadley. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the beloved grandmother of the late Garret Philip Cormier and sister of the late Walter Avery, Clifford Avery, Eleanor Walton and Doris Clancy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Evelyn's life by gathering for calling hours in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday , August 18th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
