Waltham Mrs. Florence J. (Miceli) McCarthy, of Waltham, died Thursday, December 31, 2009. She was 89. Florence was born in Cambridge on June 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose (Fraumani) Miceli. Florence was devoted to her husband Thomas of 68 years. A religious woman, Florence was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary's Church and Sacred Heart Church in Waltham and had been a member the Third Order of Mary at Sacred Heart Church. She held a special devotion to Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina. Florence was the loving mother of seven children, Jeanne M. Finley of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; Kathleen R. McCarthy of Newport, Rhode Island; Eileen F. Lowe of Waltham; MaryAnn Stack of Moorestown, New Jersey; John A. McCarthy of Waltham; William G. McCarthy of Bedford; and Therese M. McCarthy of Waltham. She also leaves her brother, Joseph A. Miceli of Cambridge; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Florence was also a sister of the late Felix Miceli, Celia Doyle, Rose Lucas, Frederick Miceli, Barbara Graves and Samuel Miceli. Family and friends will honor and remember Florence's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
