Frances A. Baker

Brighton – Mrs. Frances A. (Connors) Baker, of Brighton, formerly of Allston and Waltham died on Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Presentation Nursing Home in Brighton. She was 87.

Frances was born in Waltham on December 31, 1925, a daughter of the late Hiram and Anita (Ryan) Connors. She graduated from Saint Patrick's High School in Watertown and Lesley College in Cambridge. She had worked as a dietician at Mount Auburn Hospital before becoming a full-time stay at home mom.

She was an avid reader and an active volunteer, spending many hours serving her community. She was a great cook and attended Fannie Farmer's Cooking School in Boston. She loved music of all kinds, especially Patsy Cline and Elvis.

She was the wife of the late Robert Baker.

Frances leaves her daughters, Ellen J. Gonzalez of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Judith B. Downey and her husband, Edward, of Malden; her granddaughter, Gabrielle McCabe and her husband, Shawn; her great-grandson, Michael McCabe and her cousin, Barbara Bird of Framingham.

Family and friends will honor and remember Frances' life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, October 3rd from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main St., Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
