Waltham – Mrs. Frances A. (Rizzo) Cappadona, of Waltham and Dennis, died on Thursday August 4th, 2016 in her daughter's home surrounded by family. She was 89.
Frances was born in Waltham on January 20, 1927, a daughter of the late Gerlando and Assunta (Falzone) Rizzo. As a young girl she quit school to work at Hathaway's Bakery in Waltham to help her family. She subsequently worked at the Waltham Watch Factory and Raytheon before leaving to start a family.
Above all else Frances enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking and baking for them. Everyone knew her family was her world and she thoroughly embraced her role as matriarch. Besides cooking, she loved playing cards, spending time with her friends, watching her beloved Red Sox and Patriots, reading, dancing and watching Westerns. Raising seven children with the love of her life, her husband George, was something she treasured. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her immense joy and happiness and she would always say how proud she was of each and every one of them.
Although she will be greatly missed her family takes comfort in the fact that she is reunited with her beloved George in heaven.
The beloved wife of the late George E. Cappadona she is survived by her children, Susan J. Hannigan of Sandwich, Stephen J. Cappadona and his wife, Doreen, of Waltham, Nancy L. Ricci and her husband, Stephen, of Waltham, George T. Cappadona and his wife, Linda, of Acworth, Georgia, Paul M. Cappadona and his wife, Jane, of Wilmington, North Carolina, Jerome P. Cappadona and his girlfriend, Jacqui McKenna, of Concord, and Anne C. Leonelli and her husband, John, of Dennis; her sister, Catherine 'Kay' Sinerate of Waltham; her grandchildren, Julie E. Pelletier and her husband, Mark, Jill E. McElroy and her husband, John, Stephen P. Ricci and his wife Daniella, Andrew J. Ricci, George E. Hannigan and his wife, Christen, Erin E. Laible, Laura L. Hannigan, Nicole K. Brennan and her husband, Patrick, Marisa A, Jeffrey P, James T., Amie J. Jerome A. and Nikki C. Cappadona, Leah E. Smith and her husband, Adam, Taryn E. and Nicholas D. Cappadona and Christina A., John R., and Jared M. Leonelli; her cherished 'little ones', her great-grandchildren, Sienna, Dylan, Jack, Kendall, Cameron, Alex, Christopher and Savanna and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was the great-grandmother of the late Paul E. Ricci and sister of the late Jerome, Rosario and Peter Rizzo.
Family and friends will honor and remember Frances's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, August 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 Newton Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
