Frances T. Doyle

February 29, 1932 — August 31, 2021

Lincoln – Mrs. Frances T. (Russell) Doyle, of Lincoln, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. She was 89.

Fran was born on February 29, 1932 in Boston and was raised in the Savin Hill neighborhood of Dorchester. A daughter of Irish natives, Peter and Mary (Bowe) Russell, she was a graduate of Girls High School in Boston.

On September 11, 1954 she married the love of her life, fellow Dorchester resident Arnold W. Doyle in Saint Mark's Church. The pair lived for a time in Belmont and in Watertown before moving to Weston in 1967 where they would raise their family.

Fran was a wonderful wife and mother, and loved caring for her home and family. She was very active in the community and in the lives of her children during their 'growing up years.' No matter the task, Fran was a quiet and efficient volunteer in both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts, participated in various school events, was a CCD teacher at Saint Julia Parish on Boston Post Road, and also volunteered at Roxbury Weston Programs. She was a warm and loving friend to many and happily completed every undertaking with a smile. For over twenty-five years Fran was active in a Pine Street Inn Cooking Group with many of her close friends.

When her children were grown, she went back to school and earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 1983. She loved spending summers on Martha's Vineyard where she made countless happy memories with her family and friends at Bend-in-the-Road Beach, State Beach, and South Beach.

Fran was a patient of the Joslin Diabetes Center for over seventy-five years. She was indebted to the three doctors she had there, Priscilla White, Donna Younger and Joan Larrabee.

She was the beloved wife of the late Arnold W. Doyle and is survived by her children, Christopher Doyle (Rhode) of Waltham, Peter Doyle (Allison) of North Hampton, New Hampshire, Jeannine Doyle of Needham and Andrew Doyle (Julie) of Northborough; her sister Evelyn Hackett of Lafayette, Louisiana; her daughter-in-law, Lynne Jacoby of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and also leaves 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and their families.

She was the mother of the late Mary Doyle and sister of the late Louise Russell, Edward Russell and Pauline Nugent.

Family and friends will honor and remember Fran's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, September 3rd from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
