Ms. Frances P. O’Donnell, of Waltham, died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in Care Dimensions Hospice Residence in Lincoln. She was 98.
Frances was born March 12, 1925 in Boston a daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Manning) O’Donnell. Raised in South Boston she was a graduate of South Boston High School and later earned her Bachelor’s degree from Boston University. A longtime resident of Jamaica Plain she moved to Waltham over 30 years ago.
She enjoyed a long and respected career with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company where she worked over 40 years. Most of her career was in their downtown Boston location and later some travel to their New Hampshire offices. She worked as a claims specialist and was instrumental in teaching many employees the process and critical in the implementation of computer generated claims from the old fashioned paper claim. She loved her work at Liberty Mutual.
Fran travelled extensively and remained close with her family. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her siblings, Joseph O’Donnell Jr (late Virginia), Claire Kent (late Richard), Phyllis McDonnell (late Paul).
She leaves her sister, Beatrice A. O’Donnell of West Roxbury and many nieces & nephews, greta-nieces and great-nephews including Brett Ferolito (Jill), Brian Ferolito (Emily), Clarice Richard (Timothy) and Gina Ferolito (Nick Epstein).
Family and friends will honor and remember Frances’ life by gathering for visitation on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham followed by her Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
