Auburndale - Mrs. Frances A. (Parisi) Scafidi, of Auburndale, died Saturday, January 14, 2016 at Countryside Healthcare in Milford. She was 96.
Frances was born on September 28, 1920 in Waltham, a daughter of Italian immigrants Domenico and Assunta (Mula) Parisi. Raised and educated in Waltham she graduated from Waltham High School. During World War II she proudly worked at the former Waltham Watch Factory. She married Dominic V. Scafidi on June 29, 1941 in Saint Charles Borromeo Church and they were married 58 years until his death on December 15, 1999.
In earlier years Fran was an avid bowler and played in the Wal-Lex Ladies League along with her sisters. True to her Italian heritage she was a fantastic cook and happiest when amidst her large family.
In addition to her husband, Dominic, she was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Terrasi, Anna Parisi, Madeline Romard and Beatrice Costa.
She leaves her children, Michael J. Scafidi and his wife, Patricia, of Milford, Rosalie D. Troy and her husband, William, of Waltham, Kathleen M. Morreale and her husband, Stephen, of Southborough, Susan F. Hill and her husband, Craig, and Frances A. Morrison and her husband, David, all of Milford; her siblings, Carmela 'Nel' Borey of Newton and Francis Parisi of Milford; her brother-in-law, Anthony Scafidi of Centerville; her grandchildren, Michael S. Scafidi, MaryAnn Silvestri and her husband, Craig, Christine L. Luzi and her husband, David, Joanne P. Berthiaume and her husband, John, Brian J. and Stephanie A. Troy, Kimberlee M., Jessica K. and Katelyn E. Morreale, Colleen C. Anderson and her husband, Daniel, Craig E. Hill and his wife, Sarah, Sydney F. and Zachary D. Morrison; her great-grandchildren, Margaret, Dominic, Madelyn, Christopher, Olivia, Violet, Nathan, Jackson, Emma, Dario and Nico and many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Frances's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, January 17th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery.
