Waltham – Mr. Francis K. "Frank" DeBuono, of Waltham, died Friday, September 25, 2015 in his home. He was 88.
Frank was born in Denver, Colorado, on April 8, 1927, a son of the late Henry and Letitia (DeBease) DeBuono. He was raised in Denver where he graduated high school. After that he served with the United States Coast Guard during World War II.
Trained as a certified gemologist, he worked as a diamond setter in New York City for over forty-five years until his retirement. A longtime resident of the city's Washington Heights neighborhood, he was a stalwart fan of the New York Yankees, the New York Football Giants and loved to travel and to dine out.
Frank moved to Waltham in 1999 where he became a devoted member of Saint Julia's Parish in Weston where he served as an usher at Sunday Mass for years.
The husband of the late Barbara (Webster) DeBuono, he leaves his nieces, Marilyn Cerniglia of Waltham and Rosalinda Curran and her husband, Jack, of South Weymouth and his grand-nieces, Courtney Curran of Kingston and Rebecca Curran of New York City.
Frank was the brother of the late IdaMae DeBuono and Mary L. Cerniglia, brother-in-law of the late Joseph S. Cerniglia, M.D. and uncle of the late Joseph S. Cerniglia.
Family and friends will honor and remember Frank's life by gathering for his Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 in Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
