Mr. Francis J. Bud McGovern of Waltham died Monday, June 20, 2005 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 82. A lifelong Waltham resident and son of the late James P. and Lillian (Renie) McGovern, he lived in the same house he grew up in. He was a graduate of Waltham High School, Class of 1941. Mr. McGovern made watches at the Waltham Watch Factory for many years. After that, he worked as a machine shop mechanic at the Standard-Thomson Company. In later years, Mr. McGovern worked at Bentley College as the head custodian and, in 16 years, he only took one sick day. Mr. McGovern was a Red Sox fan who very much enjoyed their winning the World Series. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary Doris (Leger) McGovern; his children, Francis J. McGovern, Jr. and his fiancé Mary Lou Crowley, of Natick, Stephen P. McGovern of Buda, TX, Kevin McGovern and his wife Doreen, of Waltham, and Ann Marie Ree McGovern-Theriault and her husband David, of Natick; his grandchildren, Stephen P. McGovern, Jr. and his wife Detra, CWO2 Scott M. Munger, U.S.A. and his wife Shina, Sgt. Sean D. Munger, USMC, Keith, Keri, Patric, Stacey, and Chelsea McGovern, and Gabrielle Breezy Theriault; his great-grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, and Griffin; his brothers, Arthur McGovern of Florida, and Paul and Walter McGovern, both of Waltham and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also a brother of the late Robert McGovern. The Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
