Weston Mr. Francis A. Recka of Weston died Monday, July 25, 2005 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was 88. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Shaughnessy) Recka, he moved to Weston in 1956. He had also been a resident of Harwichport from 1977 to 2000 when he returned to Weston. Until his retirement, Mr. Recka worked as the Director of Human Resources at the General Services Administration, Boston Region and Director of Personnel Management for the U.S. Civil Service Commission. After retirement he continued working as a human resources consultant. He was a graduate of Waltham High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1939 and a Master of Education degree from State College at Boston. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II from 1942 to 1946, serving in the United States and in the Far East. Mr. Recka was also an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years serving as a Communications Watchstander at the Provincetown Coast Guard Station, Flotilla Commander of the Harwich Auxiliary Flotilla and instructor in Boating Safety classes. He was a former president of Lodge No. 1026 of the American Federation of Government Employees; chairman of the Troop Committee of Norumbega Council, Boy Scouts of America; a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Cape Cod; and a member of the MIT Club of Cape Cod. He also served as adjunct professor at Massachusetts Bay Community College and Northeastern University and had been a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8771. The husband of the late Katherine A. (Powers) Recka he leaves his son, Edward J. Recka and his wife Toni Wolf of Weston; one granddaughter, Molly E. Recka; and one sister, Mary Rapp of Oakdale, Pennsylvania. He was also a brother of the late Joseph and Edward Recka. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in Saint Julias Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Weston. Visiting hours are Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham.
