Francis J. "Frank" Smith

Waltham— Mr. Francis J. “Frank” Smith, of Waltham, died Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln.

Frank was born in Waltham on May 12, 1936, a son of the late Joseph “Norman” and Alice (Gormley) Smith. Raised in Waltham, he was a graduate of Saint Charles High School.

Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home he joined the Waltham Police Department and served the city until his retirement in the 1980’s.

Frank had a great admiration for dogs and enjoyed taking his various canines on long drives. He could always be found tinkering in the garage or working on his lawn. Frank had a talent for gardening and maintained a vegetable garden yielding beautiful tomatoes each year.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his brother, the late William Smith.

He leaves his children, Gary Smith (Diane) of Ogunquit, Maine and Susan Pasciscia (Joseph) of Waltham; his grandchildren, Courtney Smith (Adam Richins) and Mariel Pasciscia; his brother, Paul Smith (Helen) of New Hampshire and his cousins, Arlene Gordon (Steve) and Dick Gannon (Carol).

Funeral services for Frank are private.
