Somerville – Mr. Francis X. "Frank" Stanton, of Somerville, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Jeanne Jugan Residence in Somerville. He was 88.
Frank was born in Somerville on October 13, 1927, the son of the late Francis S. and Clare M. (Sullivan) Stanton, and was a 1945 graduate of Saint Clement's High School. He attended Boston College and served with the United States Army during the end of World War II.
Until his retirement Frank worked as the custodian at Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Waltham and before that at Aquinas Junior College in Newton. He had also been a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham.
Frank was a CCD teacher and a member of the choir at Saint Charles Church. He also belonged to the Legion of Mary at Saint Mary's Church in Waltham and was president of Our Lady of the Presentation Praesidium.
The husband of the late Margaret D. "Peggy" (Doucette) Stanton, he leaves his sisters, Clare Flanagan of Chestnut Hill and Martha Sheridan of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Jane and Theresa Stanton.
Family and friends will honor and remember Frank's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Friday morning in the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
