Mr. Francis J. ‘Frank’ Tarpy, of Waltham, died Thursday, May 2, 2024 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital after an illness. He was 88.
Francis J. Tarpy was born August 23, 1935 in Waltham a son of the late Patrick and Mary F. (Haddock) Tarpy. Raised in Waltham he graduated from Waltham Vocational High School. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married to the late Mary Ann (Wood) Tarpy until her death.
Frank worked as a machinist at Dee Electrical Products for over 30 years. He then worked at Becton Dickinson in Waltham and then in the mailroom at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover.
His hobbies included model planes and trains, hunting, skiing, and snowmobiling.
In addition to his wife, Mary Ann, he was predeceased by his siblings, Edward (late Helen), William (late Rita), Robert (late Ruth) and Margaret Bishop (late Freeman); his nephews, Randy Tarpy and Kenneth Bishop.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews, Brenda Quinn, Andrea Macauley, Cheryl Nelsen, (Grant), Maryann Donnelly, (Phil), Judith Sampson, (Al), Richard Tarpy, Stephen Tarpy, (Cheryl), Robert Tarpy, (Michelle) and Paul Tarpy and many great-nieces and great-nephews and his longtime companion, Mary P. Starkey of Norwood.
Family and friends will honor and remember Frank’s life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, May 13th from 4 to 6 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.Monday, May 13, 2024
