Francis E. “Frankie” Utley, III, of Maynard, died Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at his home. He was 66.
Frankie was born in Boston on August 8, 1958, a son of Carolyn A. (Gustafson) Utley of Waltham and the late Francis E. Utley, Jr. He was raised in Waltham and had been a resident of Maynard for more than thirty years.
He worked for years as a mental health counselor at several area hospitals.
Frankie enjoyed being around his family and in addition to his own children and grandchildren, had many ‘adopted’ sons and daughters who affectionately called him ‘Pa’. Trips to Twin River to try his luck were enjoyable excursions for Frankie.
He was the husband of the late Deborah A. (Gouthro) Utley.
In addition to his mother, Carol, he leaves his daughters, Corinne M. Utley (David Hale) of Leominster and Melinda E. Utley of Maynard; his grandchildren, Kobe and Yesenia Utley and Christian and Gabriel Hale; his sisters and brother, Debra Walsh of St. Pauls, North Carolina, Joyce Raper of Clinton and Michael Utley of Tewksbury; also survived by several nieces, nephews and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Frankie’s life by gathering in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, March 14th where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
