Waltham – Mr. Frank J. Casella, of Waltham, died Sunday, July 29, 2018 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 74.
Frank was born in Waltham on January 11, 1944, a son of the late Luigi and Carmella (Repisardi) Casella, and had been a lifelong resident. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1962 and earned his bachelor's degree from Northeastern University in Boston.
He went to work for the Raytheon Company right out of high school, first at their Lowell plant where he spent thirty-one years and for the next ten years worked as a logistics engineer in Andover. Frank also belonged to Raytheon's golf league.
Frank was meticulous about caring for his home and yard. He loved summers spent with his beloved grandchildren around the pool and at the table. For the past sixteen years he and his wife, Louise, enjoyed winters in West Palm Beach, Florida.
He leaves his wife of fifty-two years, Louise K. (Barca) Casella; his daughters, Christine A. Casella and Kimberly S. Casella both of Waltham; his grandchildren, Thomas, Nicole, Amanda, Jennifer and Anthony Shortt and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was a brother of the late Louis Casella, Mary Lucas, Joseph Casella, Ida Welch, James Casella, Angelina McLellan, Salvatore Casella, Rose Palumbo and Carmelo "Cam" Casella.
Family and friends will honor and remember Frank's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, August 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
