Waltham - Mr. Frederick J. Dowcett, of Waltham, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was 62. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late William F. and Elizabeth A. (Devane) Dowcett, Fred worked for over fifteen years as a Wires Inspector for the City of Waltham. He was a member of the Waltham Sons of Italy, an avid sports fan, enjoyed all kinds of music and loved being around his children and grandchildren. Fred served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Fred was the father of the late Michael A. Dowcett. He leaves his wife, Lorraine P. (Cormier) Dowcett; his children, Joseph F. Dowcett and his wife, Kimberly, and Kathleen A. Dowcett, all of Waltham, Patricia A. Dowcett and her husband, Bryan Bettencourt, of Cheshire, Connecticut; four sisters, Mary Burke and her husband, Robert Calabufalo, of Brockton, Ann Bamforth and her husband, John, and Patricia Quigley and her husband, Patrick, all of Delaware, and Ellen Jones and her husband, Peter, of Marlborough; his grandchildren, Dylan, Alexa and Derek and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Thursday at 8 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
