Waltham – Mr. Frederick ‘Ted’ Heiser, of Waltham, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was 81.
Ted was born in the Bronx, New York on August 2, 1929, a son of the late Henry and Edith (Kresse) Heiser, and had been a longtime Waltham resident. Until his retirement he worked as a truck driver for twenty-two years for Harvey Industries in Waltham.
Ted enlisted with the United States Army when he was sixteen and spent thirty-three years as a professional soldier, serving during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
He was also a volunteer at the Waltham Senior Center and a daily communicant at Saint Mary’s Church in Waltham.
He leaves his wife Marilyn R. (Morrissey) Heiser; his children, Michael A. McCall and his wife, Cheryl, of Bellingham, Donna A. Wentworth, Patricia E. Smith and her husband, Michael, all of Waltham and Karen A. Sergi and her husband, George, of Blackstone; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ted was also a brother of the late Martin A. Heiser and Priscilla Forbes.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ted’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20). Waltham on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
