Weston— Mr. Frederick "Fred" Roy Woodside of Weston, passed away unexpectedly on September 2nd, 2022. He was surrounded by his children and his wife.
Frederick was born June 11, 1948 in Newton to Anne Woodside and the late Frederick Woodside. He and his family lived in Waltham where they owned Woodside's Service Station and later moved to Weston in 1958. Fred was a graduate of Weston High School where he began working in the family business and spent his summers on his grandfather's farm in Horseheads, New York. He graduated from Babson College in 1970 with a degree in business. After graduation Fred worked at Woodside's Station full time but pursued his passion for car building and restoration, most recently finishing a 1939 Ford Rumble convertible.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Linda Day Woodside. He was the father of Amy Woodside Johnson and her husband, Aaron Johnson, of Weston and Weston Fire Chief Justin Woodside and his wife, Sarah Armstrong Woodside, of Wayland. He was a loving and devoted grandfather of Gabriel, Rebekah, Jackson, Amelia and Emerson. He loved attending their sporting events, family dinners, cruise vacations and giving them scooter rides. Fred was the brother of Maria Woodside Freitag (late Robert Freitag) and Robert Woodside, and the brother-in-law of Douglas Day. Fred is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins and will be missed by countless friends and extended family.
Family and friends will honor and remember Fred's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, September 8th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Friday morning where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will take place privately in New York.
