Gail M. (Maxwell) McClymonds of Waltham passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She was 74. Born in Auburn, New York, on November 6, 1950, Gail was the daughter of the late Frederick Maxwell and Nancy (Avery) Maxwell. She was raised in upstate New York but moved to Staten Island with her family in her teens, graduating from Curtis High School on Staten Island. She then studied fine arts at Ithaca College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She met her future husband Jim at the church they both attended in Ithaca and they were married in 1976.
Gail was very active at Hope International Church in Waltham. She served the church family in many quiet, behind-the-scenes ways and she was known for her warm smile and helping hands. Their home was always open to guests for meals together or overnight stays. She volunteered at the Boston Center for Pregnancy Choices, a crisis pregnancy center, for 38 years. Gail also loved flowers, and their house and gardens were filled with their beauty and aroma.
She leaves behind her husband, James McClymonds of Waltham; her children, Charlene Wiebe (Kelvin) of Harvard, Massachusetts, Keith McClymonds (Niki) of Essex, Vermont, Lydia McClymonds of Waltham, Ian McClymonds (Mary) of Ellicott City, Maryland; her grandchildren, Micah, Isaac, Linnea, Kenzie, Adelaide, Seth, Eli, Claire, and Luke; her sister, Mimi Harris (Ron) of Groton, New York, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Family and friends will honor and celebrate Gail‘s life by gathering at Hope International Church, 21 Bruce Road, Waltham, MA 02453 where her memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Attendees are very welcome to stay afterwards to have conversation, share memories and enjoy refreshments. Burial will be held privately in the afternoon at Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Hope International Church or a charity of your choice. Donations to the church can be made online at hopeic.org/giving and select “special offering.”
