Waltham - Mrs. Genevieve F. (Hoell) McAloon, of Waltham, died Tuesday April 7, 2009 in her home. She was 93.
Born and raised in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Bonner) Hoell, Genevieve had lived in Cambridge for fifty-three years before moving to Waltham. She worked for twenty-five years as a clerk and cashier for the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Watertown. In her spare time, Genevieve enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod and was also a member of the North Waltham Senior Citizens.
Genevieve leaves her children, Maureen F. Sliney and her husband, Richard, of Waltham, Elaine G. Joy and her husband, Tom, of Easton, Joyce A. McAloon of Foxboro, and William A. McAloon, Jr. of Waltham; two brothers, John Hoell and his wife, Mildred, of Reading, and Edward Hoell of Avon; and two sisters-in-law, Alice Hoell of Tewksbury and Margaret Connors of Waltham. She was the proud grandmother of Heather, Tim, Sharon, Cassie, Sarah, Matt, T.J. and Brandi and also leaves four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including Nancy McInerney of East Dennis.
She was the wife of the late William A. McAloon, Sr. and sister of the late Henry Hoell, Eugene Hoell, and Mary W. Miller.
Family and friends will honor and remember Genevieve's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
