George D. ‘Dan’ Conrad Jr. of Eustis, Maine, formerly of Watertown, died Wednesday, September 13, 2023 in Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. He was 83.
George Daniel Conrad was born on November 15, 1939 in Gloucester a son of the late George D. and Grace M. (Hadley) Conrad. As a young child he moved to Watertown where he was a graduate from Watertown High School with the class of 1958. It was in Watertown where he met Judith A. Doucette and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. He proudly served as a Petty Officer 1st Class aboard the USS Cambria in the United States Navy from 1960 – 1964.
Dan had worked as a plant manager for Ark-Les Corporation and later for Swisstronics, Inc., both based in Watertown before enjoying retirement.
Dan and Judy wintered in their home in North Fort Meyers, Florida before settling for the last twenty years at Flagstaff Lake in Eustis, Maine where they cherished wonderful friendships and neighbors. Dan spent countless hours playing cribbage, rummy, whist, dominos, and shooting pool. He was a member of the American Legion Post #61 in Kingfield, Maine.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he leaves his children, D. Scott Conrad and his wife, Donna, of Waltham and Debra LaFrankie and her husband, Donald of Marlborough; he was the much loved ‘Papa’ to Kristyna Carlton (Keith) of Holliston, Alyssa and Juliana Gigas and Jessica and Daniel Conrad; his sister, Mary Ann Bourque; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
