George A. Gaines

East Sandwich - Mr. George A. Gaines of East Sandwich, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday March 1, 2006 at Jordan Hospital, Plymouth. He was 95. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Minus and Lillian (Stowell) Gaines, he worked for thirty-five years as a tool and dye maker for Boston Tool and Dye before it became United Carr Fastener Corporation/TRW in Cambridge. Mr. Gaines had been a resident of East Sandwich for the past thirty-three years. He was the husband of the late Viola A. (Dodge) Gaines, who passed away October 29, 2005 and to whom he had been married for seventy-four years. He was also the brother of the late Richard Gaines and Lillian Cowie. George leaves his daughters, Beverly M. Jones and her husband, Walter of Watertown, and Marilyn J. Bertini and her husband, Albert of East Sandwich; his sister, Clara Ferrulle of Marshfield; his granddaughter, Cheryl King and her husband, Kenneth of Waltham; two great-grandsons Kristopher and Kevin, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
