Waltham – Mr. George N. Kotsifas, of Waltham, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham. He was 83.
A lifelong Waltham resident, he was born on July 2, 1931, a son of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Marchacos) Kotsifas. Until his retirement George worked as a quality control inspector for the W.H. Nichols Company in Waltham for over forty-two years.
He was a graduate of Waltham High School and served with the United States Air Force and the National Guard.
George was a member of the Taxiarchae/Archangels Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown for many years. An avid Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed gardening.
He leaves his children, Nicholas G. Kotsifas and his wife, Kathleen, of Natick and Arthur A. Kotsifas and his wife, Christine, of Arlington; his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as "Papou", Angela, Alexandria, and Lucas Kotsifas; his sister, Bess Karamas of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Peter Kotsifas, Theresa Manos, Clara Boisvert, and Effie Pappas.
Family and friends will honor and remember George's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Wednesday, May 27th from 6 to 9 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, where his funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
