Waltham - Mr. George W. Lupien, Jr., of Waltham, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 in his home.
George was born in Boston, a son of the late George W. and Anna B. (Hynes) Lupien, and had been a lifelong resident of Waltham. Until his retirement in 1992 he had worked for over thirty years for the United States Post Office at both the Newton and South Boston branches retiring as the superintendent of mails. George was a 1945 graduate of Waltham High School, a former board member of the Y.M.C.A. and a thirty-five year member of the Waltham Police Auxiliary. In his spare time he could be found going out for a stroll to Prospect Hill, talking and spending time with the neighbors, enjoying his garden and most of all stamp collecting.
He leaves his wife, Theresa M. (Duquette) Lupien; two step-children, Dr. Richard G. Lemay and his wife, Carol, of Saco, Maine, and Judi A. Lusk and her husband, Ron, of Wyncote, Pennsylvania; his sister, Mary Wellman of Bridgton, Maine; his grandchildren, Marie and Eric Lemay and many nieces, nephews and wonderful neighbors.
He was also a brother of the late Leroy F. Lupien and Raymond J. Lupien.
Family and friends will honor and remember George’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
