Waltham - Mr. George W. Maher, of Waltham, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 76.
George was born on May 10, 1934, a son of the late Joseph M. and Mary E. (Coye) Maher, and had been a lifelong resident of Waltham.
He was a production manager for the Polaroid Corporation for thirty years until his retirement. George was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School and Boston College. He enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing, and gardening.
George was the brother of the late Joseph M. Maher, Jr., Paul B. Maher, Thomas F. Maher and John Maher.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Diane F. Maher of Waltham and Frances Maher of New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember George’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, January 25th, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
