Weston - Mr. George E. Pickering of Weston, formerly of Watertown, died Wednesday October 13, 2004 in his home. He was 88. Born in Malden, a son of the late Charles and Elsie (Coombs) Pickering, he was a chemical engineer and a consultant for many years for the Arthur D. Little Company in Watertown. Mr. Pickering was a 1940 graduate of Tufts University earning a degree in chemical engineering and served as the president of his class. In 1942 he graduated from Harvard Business School where he received his M.B.A. and was the secretary in his class. He was also employed at Northern Industrial Chemical Co, Plax Corporation, Foster Grant, and Pickering Development Company. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, M. Doris (Mason); his children, David G. Pickering and his significant other, Amanda Van Treese of Waltham, Judith A. Dodge and her husband John of Acton, Cynthia J. Aulenbach and her husband Wayne of Watertown, Patricia L. Koehler and her husband Christopher of Fairfield, CT, and Kathryn M. Harrington and her husband Kevin of Marstons Mills; one sister, Virginia Perkins of Sudbury; his loving grandchildrem, Shawn, Jeffrey, Michael, Timothy, Kimberly, Leslie, Scott, Bryan, Kerri, and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Charles Pickering. Funeral services will be held Sunday October 17, 2004 at 4 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham.
