George J. Pilla

Ipswich – Mr. George J. Pilla, of Ipswich, died Monday, November 13, 2017 at Beverly Hospital. He was 66.

George was born in Waltham on March 29, 1951, a son of the late Linda M. (Generoso) Pilla and George J. Pilla, Sr. He was a graduate of Waltham High School and was a proud alumnus of Boston College.

He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and became a certified public accountant beginning his career at Coopers & Lybrand. As a specialist in the field of accounting and finance George later became a consulting chief financial officer often retained to guide companies through mergers and acquisitions.

He would tell you that the best part of his life began on November 10, 1990 when he married Kibby Squires in the Chapel of the Most Blessed Trinity at Boston College's Newton campus.

George and Kibby lived in Arlington for twelve years before moving to Waltham. Another move came four years ago to Boston before they recently moved to Ipswich.

While George's talent was in accounting his real passion was spending time with Kibby and exploring and enjoying the arts. The theatre and live performances of all kinds, from Boston to Broadway to Las Vegas brought many happy memories that will be forever cherished.

In addition to his wife of twenty-seven years, Kibby, he leaves several cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember George's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, November 17th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Committal services will be held in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel.
