Mr. George J. Pitts of Greenfield, formerly of Waltham died Thursday July 8 2004 in UMass Medical Center, Worcester. He was 53. Born in Waltham, a son of the late William A. and Frances M. (DArrigo) Pitts he was a Counselor with the Beacon House for Men in Greenfield for several years. He was a 1970 graduate of Waltham High School, a member of the Lions Club in Greenfield as well as the Lion of the Year in 2000, as well as started the Safe House in Brockton for recovering veterans. He loved photography, cooking, Harleys and always enjoyed children and spending time with his family always leaving people with a smile and a great sense of humor and starting out with How are ya?? He is survived by his former wife Deanna L. (Grant), two sons Bryan P. Pitts and his wife Jamie Francis of Dracut, James D. Pitts of Los Angeles, Ca; two brothers William Pitts and his wife Barbara of Florida and Francis Rusty Prinnier, one sister Shirley Pitts of Exeter, NH one grandson Tyler Pitts and several nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held Monday at 9: a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham Visiting hours Sunday 2-5 p.m.
