George K. Politis

Waltham – Mr. George K. Politis, of Waltham, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Beth Israel Deaconess Glover Hospital in Needham. He was 86.

George was born on September 18, 1928, in Sparta, Greece, a son of the late Christos and Despina (Kritharis) Politis. He immigrated to the United States and had lived in Waltham since 1968. Until his retirement he was employed in facilities maintenance.

He leaves his wife, Virginia (Menidis) Politis; his sons, Christopher Politis and his wife, Tracy, and Peter Politis and his wife, Adrienne, all of Waltham; his grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Amanda, Troy, and Victoria Politis and his sister, Tula Politis of Sparta, Greece.

Family and friends will honor and remember George's life by gathering for calling hours on Monday, May 4th from 4 to 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham and again at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church where his funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
