Brookline – Mr. George B. Pulsifer, of Brookline, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Golden Living Chetwynde in Newton. He was 96.
George was born in Boston on May 3, 1918, a son of the late Frank and Artemas (Stetson) Pulsifer. He was raised in Watertown and was a graduate of Watertown High School.
During World War II he served with the United States Army and after the war began working overseas as an artesian well driller throughout the Middle East. When he returned home he settled in Brookline and became a taxi driver for Boston Cab Company until his retirement.
George was a member of the American Legion in Brookline and as a lifelong Red Sox fan was especially pleased to be among the few whose life was book-ended with World Series championships.
He leaves his sister, Dorothy Lawler of Framingham, several nieces and nephews, and his dear friends, Steve and Cheryl Pokornicki and family of Waltham, formerly of Dorchester and Bruce Wolff of Brookline.
He was also a brother of the late Frank, Jr., John "Jack", James and Robert Pulsifer, Elizabeth "Betty" Dunn and Lucille Blake.
Family and friends will honor and remember George's life by gathering to visit at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 12 Noon. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
